How to Apply

If you receive an e-mail from the Office of the Dean of Students ( indicating someone nominated you for an award, you will be instructed to fill out an application. Fill out the online form completely and finalize it. The information on the application form is what the committee is looking for in selecting award recipients, so be thorough. Supplemental materials (except for those requested online) will not be accepted. It is also critical that you provide the dates or duration of activities so that the selection committees can evaluate the extent of your involvement. 

On the Application: There is a part asking for your "Bio." This is for the publication for the awards ceremony. What we want is a short blurb describing your interests, activity, and involvement on campus written in the 3rd person.

If you were not nominated, you are still able to apply online.  Just send an e-mail to the Office of the Dean of Students and ask to be added as a nominee -


The application process closes generally the Monday after spring break ends. 

Selection Process

Recipients are selected by diverse communities of faculty, staff, and students whose membership represents: Housing, Athletics, CMAE, international programs, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Dean of Students, Erb Memorial Union, ASUO, and academic departments. Campus involvement in a variety of contexts and academic achievements are considered heavily in the selection of the individual awards. The committees meet in April and students will be notified soon after that time.


Once the deadline for applications passes, the committees will meet and review all applications for the freshmen, sophomore, junior women, junior men, and senior awards. You will receive notification within a few weeks whether or not you have received an award. We do not inform you of the specific award you have received, but we do inform your parents/family you listed on your online application form of which award you will be receiving.The University Awards Celebration was held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. to honor the award recipients. No tickets are required, but in order to get a head count, please RSVP to the Office of the Dean of Students at (541) 346-3216 or

Student Performances

We ask student groups to perform during this event.  If you have a group who would like to perform, please contact us!

Student Works on Display

At the Awards Celebration, we plan to have a showroom of outstanding student work that fellow students and their family members can enjoy while at the ceremony. We are open to any type of work pieces; these could include research posters or media presentations, creative works (poetry, drawings, paintings, digital arts, etc), photography, architecture models, and anything else that might seem appropriate.  Please e-mail if you would like to display your work at the event on May 17, 2013.
