University Day 2015 is set for Thursday, May 21st
About University Day
University Day is a campus-wide beautification event that takes place each spring. Hundreds of students, staff and faculty gather together to plant flowers, spread bark dust, and enjoy live entertainment provided by campus groups. We also invite community members to join us! The tradition dates back to 1905 as part of Junior Weekend, when projects included things such as laying the walk to Deady, followed by a "feast" given by the University women. It has always been a spirited event to prepare the University grounds for commencement ceremonies, and even though it has greatly evolved since 1905, our roots still lie in campus spirit and community service.
We are currently looking for students who would like to be involved in the Planning Committee for University Day 2015! If you are interested, please send an email to email@example.com by November 24, 2014 so that we can get in contact with you! Committees include: Campus Project committee, Marketing and Outreach Committee, and the Entertainment and Activities Committee.
In honor of University Day the planning committee chooses to contribute something to the campus each year. Examples of past projects include new bike racks, updated benches, renewed courtyards, planted trees, new light posts, a beautiful sidewalk mosaic, and many more.
Interested in contributing to University Day? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to sponsor this event. Sponsors will have the chance to have their group name appear on the University Day t-shirts worn by over 2,000 volunteers as well as on promotional materials such as event posters and websites. Thank you for your support!
